Could a patient have PCOS when key diagnostic criteria are not met?  New research says, yes!  Sporadic anovulation, menstrual irregularity, and acne may precede hallmark symptoms of PCOS like hirsutism and amenorrhea.  Recent research has demonstrated that eumenorrheic women with some of these symptoms often found in women with PCOS are more likely to have hormonal imbalances associated with PCOS, and are more likely to have occasional anovulatory cycles.  This may open up treatment options for you when helping these women manage their symptoms or get pregnant.  Read more about this research here:
